Feijoada (Rice and beans)

Feijoada
or commonly know as rice and beans.
this is a staple dish from Brazil.
it's cheap, dang easy to make
and not to mention DELICOUS
(but honestly what on this blog isn't?)

Ingredients:
1 Lbs of black beans, also called Navy beans
1 Med to large Onion
6 Cloves of garlic
1 tablespoon of chicken bouillon knorr (i always add a little extra)
2 Hillshire Farm Beef Polska Kielbasa
salt to taste

Directions: Mince the garlic, finely chop onion. Place garlic, onions and beans into a crockpot. add enough water to cover garlic, onions and beans for about an inch. Now the exact time for cooking is a la brazilian, what this means is that no one really knows... they just kinda knowbut as a guidline it takes about 9 hrs on slow to cook the beans and 4-5 on high. (if your cooking it on high you'll want to watch the water level)Once the beans are done cooking you'll want to mash them.THIS IS VERY important. once more mash your beans. you can usea potato masher or a cup. whatever you have to make sure you mash them up.be sure not to mash them too much i.e. into the consitance of mashed potatos.next add the kielbasa.if you have been cooking on low turn to high and cook for another two hours.after two hours your beans should be done. salt to taste.make up a pot of rice, pour the beans over the rice. and ENJOYYYY!
